ABOUT US:
Seranya © is the creation of artist and entrepreneur, Susan Radke, and co-founder Michael Jarvis, her husband. Susan has been creating unique artistic designs for years including original macrame’ wall art shipped across the US and Europe, silk, dried and fresh florals, and award winning landscapes.
“I’ve been creating art since I was a little girl. One day I found a deposit of red clay in the back yard of our country home in Central Wisconsin. I would dig up a clump of clay and shape it into animals or bowls and “fire” it in the sun. As I grew older, my mom taught me to sew and I learned macrame’ in grade school. My mom “commissioined” a large wall hanging which she sold in her antique shop. After that, my pieces went to Texas, Illinois and even Spain! That’s when I knew I would always be doing some form of art.”
Susan owned and operated her own flower shop for several years. Then, after being treated for cancer and becoming a cancer survivor, she decided to try something really new. Susan returned to college to obtain a degree in landscape design and horticulture and has won a number of awards for her landscapes. During her work as a landscape designer, Susan began hand painting and dying original silk scarves. Friends and coworkers began asking about purchasing them and Seranya © was born!
Now, Susan is in charge of creative, quality control, and sales. Her husband Michael handles the difficult tasks of display, logistics, facility and purchasing. Twin daughters, Amy & Katie, also have involvement in sales and creative, though both are very busy with college classes.
We are blessed by God to be in a position to create art and offer it for sale. We are delighted at the opportunities He has given us to seek out gifted & unique artisans and provide them with an outlet for their art. We are blessed to be gifted with craftsmanship and seek to give back to our communities in response to His generosity and love. Mark 12:30-31.
